What is Group Retirement

Running a business is a significant investment. You’re not just focusing on building the success of the business but also supporting the employees who contribute to that success over time. One excellent way to reward and motivate your employees for their productivity and dedication is by offering a Group Registered Retirement Savings Plan (Group RRSP).

Why offer a Group RRSP to your employees?

Many Canadians struggle to save consistently, which can pose challenges later in life. A Group RRSP helps employees grow their savings by automatically deducting contributions from their paycheques. Additionally, the management fees for Group RRSPs are typically much lower than those of individual RRSPs, averaging less than 1%.

Some employers choose to match employee contributions to the Group RRSP, effectively doubling the savings for their team members. Employer-matched contributions are also tax- deductible, providing added financial benefits.

Benefits of a Group RRSP for employers:

  • Boost employee retention
  • Attract top talent
  • Support employees’ financial security and their families
  • Show care for employees beyond their work responsibilities

What is HSA?

Health Spending Account, is a flexible employee benefits program in Canada that offers more versatility than traditional health plans. As a supplemental program, it covers expenses not typically included in standard benefit plans. Each employee has a personal account to get reimbursed for eligible healthcare expenses or benefits not covered by provincial health insurance or their employer’s standard benefits. An HSA can be introduced either as a stand-alone option within a traditional benefits plan or as part of a flexible benefits package. These accounts generally offer a set amount per employee, making it easier for employers to manage costs. The Canada Revenue Agency regulates which expenses can be claimed under an HCSA.
